1. Agreement and Acceptance

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of MailDrop, operated by Chimelab. By installing, linking, signing in to, or otherwise using MailDrop, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy & Data Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service and disconnect it from the Ring app.

You represent that you are at least 18 years old (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction) and have the authority to enter into these Terms on your own behalf or on behalf of the entity you represent. MailDrop is not directed to children and is not designed for use by children.

2. Description of Service

MailDrop is a Ring-integrated mail delivery tracker. When a vehicle motion event occurs on a Ring camera you have connected, Chimelab analyzes camera frames on our servers to detect when a vehicle stops in your configured MailDrop Zone. Confirmed deliveries are logged in your personal dashboard with timestamps, confidence scores, and up to nine snapshot thumbnails.

Ring Protect and other Ring subscriptions are separate Amazon/Ring products not included with MailDrop. Detection quality may vary based on camera placement, lighting, network conditions, and Ring plan features.

3. User Responsibilities

As a user of MailDrop, you agree to:

  • Configure your MailDrop Zone, detection sensitivity, and timezone appropriately for your property and local delivery patterns.
  • Maintain your Ring account, internet connectivity, and device settings (including Ring privacy zones) in good working order.
  • Review your delivery history and account settings periodically and delete your account if you no longer wish to use the service.

You are solely responsible for how you use information displayed in your dashboard and for any decisions you make based on delivery detections.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to use MailDrop to:

  • Use the service in ways that violate Ring's terms or applicable law.
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, probe, or interfere with the operation of the app, the Ring API, or our infrastructure.
  • Bypass rate limits, automate account creation, forge webhooks, or otherwise abuse or overload the service.
  • Access or attempt to access another user's account, delivery history, or stored images.

We may investigate suspected violations and cooperate with law enforcement when required.

5. Data Practices

Your use of MailDrop is also governed by our Privacy & Data Policy, which describes what data we collect, how we use it, retention periods, and your rights. By using the service, you acknowledge that we will process data as described there.

In summary:

  • You retain ownership of your delivery snapshot images and account data. We process them only to provide the service to you.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
  • We do not use customer data to train, fine-tune, or improve AI models.
  • You may delete your data at any time. In-app account deletion (Settings → Delete Account) removes your account, delivery history, device settings, and stored snapshots immediately.
  • Disconnecting MailDrop from the Ring app stops new motion webhooks; stored data remains until you delete your account.

For full details on sub-processors, retention schedules, and privacy rights, see the Privacy & Data Policy and our Security & Data Architecture page.

6. Intellectual Property

Chimelab and its licensors own all rights, title, and interest inMailDrop, including the application software, user interface, documentation, trademarks, and branding.

Open-source components used by MailDrop (including detection model weights from public releases) remain subject to their respective licenses. Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of third-party intellectual property to you or to Chimelab.

7. Third-Party Services

MailDrop integrates with third-party services that are not operated by Chimelab, including:

  • Ring / Amazon — OAuth, device list, media download, and motion webhooks. Your use of Ring is subject to Ring's and Amazon's terms and privacy policies.
  • Email delivery (Resend) — magic-link sign-in emails.
  • Hosting and infrastructure — application runtime, database, and object storage providers.

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, policies, or conduct of third-party services. Outages, API changes, or policy changes by Ring or other providers may affect MailDrop without notice. Your relationship with Ring (including Ring Protect plans, camera firmware, and App Store policies) is solely between you and Ring/Amazon.

8. Limitation of Liability

We do not warrant that deliveries will always be detected, that snapshots will always be captured or retrievable, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Missed or false detections may occur due to camera placement, weather, vehicle type, network issues, Ring API outages, or events outside our control.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Chimelab, its operators, and contributors shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, packages, revenue, or profits arising from your use of or inability to use the service — including missed, stolen, or undetected mail deliveries.

Our total liability is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Account Termination

You may stop using MailDrop at any time by:

  • Deleting your account inside the app (Settings → Delete Account), which removes your account data, delivery history, device settings, and stored snapshots from our systems.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, the Ring Appstore Program Requirements, applicable law, or if we reasonably believe your use poses a security or abuse risk. We will notify you by email when reasonably possible before termination, except where immediate action is required.

10. Modifications to the Terms

We may update these Terms as MailDrop evolves. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

For material changes, we will provide reasonable notice — for example, by updating this page, sending an email to the address on your account, or announcing the change in the Ring App Store listing. We encourage you to review these Terms periodically.
